Nominate a local legend for the City of Onkaparinga’s annual 2024 Australia Day Awards.
You can nominate a legend who has contributed to the community under one of six categories:
- Citizen of the Year – open to all ages
- Young Citizen of the Year – aged 30 years or under on 26 January 2024
- Little Hero of the Year – aged 12 years or under on 26 January 2024
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Active Citizenship – non-Australian citizens
- Community Event of the Year.
The awards winners will be announced by the City of Onkaparinga on 26 January 2024.
Nominations close Friday 17 November 2023.
Citizen of the Year nominees are people who have made an outstanding contribution to community services that promote the advancement and wellbeing of the community.
Their contribution could be in areas such as education, health, fundraising, charities, volunteering, business, environment – or any other area that has enhanced community life.
The Sportsperson of the Year will display outstanding achievement in their chosen sport. They may also have demonstrated leadership on and off the field or inspired participation and involvement in sport.
The Active Citizenship award recognises groups and individuals who are not Australian citizens who have contributed to the community through their efforts and commitment.
Individuals or groups nominated for the Community Event of the Year will have staged an outstanding community event in the last 12 months in the City of Onkaparinga.
Nominees for all categories should reside in the City of Onkaparinga, however non-residents who have made a significant contribution to the local community may be considered.
Nominees’ contributions should not be within their field of employment, unless their service has been beyond the reasonable call of duty or is of significant importance to the community.
