Help shape the Hopgood Theatre's future

The City of Onkaparinga is seeking community feedback on future opportunities for the Hopgood Theatre.

This is your chance to say what programs and services you want to see taking place at this much-loved performing arts facility.

Community and council advocacy efforts have now secured the future of the theatre with the state government committing to a 25-year lease agreement with the City of Onkaparinga which includes a state government grant of $6 million to refurbish the venue.

The Hopgood Theatre has been a focal point for performing arts in Onkaparinga since its establishment in 1985, supporting regional artists and hosting national and international acts.

With 492 seats, it has the largest seating capacity of any theatre in suburban Adelaide and attracts thousands of people to performances each year. The theatre has played an important role in fostering local talent and community involvement in the arts.

The council is keen to hear the community’s views on how the theatre can deliver great performing arts experiences in the future and the type of programs and activities it will host.

To have your say and shape the future of the Hopgood Theatre, go to Your Say Onkaparinga. Public consultation will close on 3 January 2023.

You can also speak directly to council staff at Hopgood Theatre performances throughout December or at the Ramsay Place Christmas Carols on 8 December 2022.
