Onkaparinga comes alive in January, so don’t miss out on the family friendly fun.
This January is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months Onkaparinga has seen in years, with a vibrant mix of experiences and much-loved traditions bringing the city to life.
Join in the family fun, soak up the atmosphere of world-class cycling, and take pause to appreciate the stunning scenic beauty, while connecting with the community and celebrating what makes the region, state and country, the best place on earth to be.
Santos Tour Down Under
Onkaparinga once again takes centre stage on the world cycling circuit as the Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) races through the south. This TDU year, the council is proud to host 2 key stages:
- 17 January Ziptrak® Women’s Stage 1: Willunga to Willunga
- 24 January THINK! Road Safety Men’s Stage 4: Brighton to Willunga Hill, the iconic climb that always delivers a dramatic showdown.
These stages bring thousands of spectators to Onkaparinga’s streets, creating an electric atmosphere and showcasing the magnificent landscapes we call home, to a global audience.
Whether you’re a cycling enthusiast or simply enjoy the buzz of a major event, the TDU is always a highlight of summer in Onkaparinga.

If you’re looking for the ultimate place to watch the TDU Stage 4 race highlights, then roll on down to the Love Velo Vines FREE Garden Party at Richard Hamilton Wines on Saturday, 24 January 2026.
Set up your picnic rug or portable chair and settle in on the winery’s lawns to absorb the warm summer sun and the festival vibes. Watch the last thrilling hour of the day’s 176-kilometre race on the big screen and linger around for a lazy afternoon of live music and family friendly entertainment.
Food and picnic platters will be available for purchase along with soft drink, beer and wines from Leconfield and Richard Hamilton.
The new year festivities wrap up on Monday 26 January 2026, with the Australia Day Breakfasts and Australia Day Family Fair.
Australia Day Breakfasts
Start the day by coming together with fellow community members to share in a FREE breakfast provided by the City of Onkaparinga. Bring your family, meet you neighbours and make new connections while reflecting on our history, diversity, achievements and bright future.
Pack a picnic rug or chair to settle on once there, then grab some grub, and enjoy the entertainment and children’s activities from 8-11am.
The breakfasts, funded by the City of Onkaparinga and delivered by local community groups, including Willunga and District Lions Club, and Happy Valley Sports Park, will be held at:
- Happy Valley Sports Park, in Aberfoyle Park
- Centenary Park, Willunga.
Unfortunately, this year, no group was able to host the breakfast at Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre. We welcome interest from community groups and hope to see the return of a breakfast at Ramsay Place in 2027.
Please be advised that no pets are allowed with the exception of medical aid dogs.
See you there!
