New events and old favourites for everyone to enjoy as Onkaparinga comes alive.
January is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months Onkaparinga has seen in years, with a vibrant mix of refreshed experiences and much-loved traditions bringing the city to life.
Whether you’re after family fun, world-class cycling or unforgettable food and wine, there’s something for everyone this summer.
Santos Tour Down Under
Onkaparinga once again takes centre stage on the world cycling circuit as the Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) races through the region. This TDU year, the council is proud to host 2 key stages:
- 17 January Ziptrak® Women’s Stage 1: Willunga to Willunga
- 24 January THINK! Road Safety Men’s Stage 4: Brighton to Willunga Hill, the iconic climb that always delivers a dramatic showdown.
These stages bring thousands of spectators to Onkaparinga’s streets, creating an electric atmosphere and showcasing the region’s stunning landscapes to a global audience.
Whether you’re a cycling enthusiast or simply enjoy the buzz of a major event, the TDU is always a highlight of summer in Onkaparinga.

Love Velo Vines
This year there’s a new way to celebrate the TDU, with Love Velo Vines at Richard Hamilton Wines, featuring a FREE garden party and ticketed dinner on Saturday, 24 January 2026.
The Love Velo Vines Garden Party will be a place to watch the race highlights and celebrate the final stage of the TDU, while soaking up the warm summer vibes, live music and great entertainment.
The bar will offer beers, gin, soft drinks and Richard Hamilton wines, while picnic platters and food will also be available for purchase.
For those seeking something truly special, the Love Velo Vines ticketed dinner will offer a premium dining experience.
Dinner guests will be treated to a roving event beginning with canapés, drinks and dazzling photo opportunities, before relocating for a seated meal featuring delicious, shared platters, mains and desserts.
Throughout the evening, the chef and winemaker will guide diners through the gastronomic journey, explaining why the flavours work together and sharing stories about the locally sourced produce.

The new year festivities wrap up on Monday 26 January 2026, with the Australia Day Breakfasts and Australia Day Family Fair.
Australia Day Breakfasts
Start the day by coming together with fellow community members to share in a FREE breakfast provided by the City of Onkaparinga. Bring your family, meet you neighbours and make new connections while reflecting on our history, diversity, achievements and bright future.
Pack a picnic rug or chair to settle on once there, then grab some grub, and enjoy the entertainment and children’s activities from 8-11am.
The breakfasts, funded by the City of Onkaparinga and delivered by local community groups, including Willunga and District Lions Club, and Happy Valley Sports Park, will be held at:
- Happy Valley Sports Park, in Aberfoyle Park
- Centenary Park, Willunga.
Unfortunately this year, no group was able to host the breakfast at Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre. We welcome interest from community groups and hope to see the return of a breakfast at Ramsay Place in 2027.
Please be advised that no pets are allowed with the exception of medical aid dogs.
See you there!
