Calling all local heroes!

Nominations are now open for the City of Onkaparinga 2022 Australia Day Awards.

The annual awards recognise all the hard-working individuals and groups in the community that make Onkaparinga a great place to live.

There are six categories for the 2022 award, including a new category, ‘Active Citizenship’, which recognises the contribution to the community from individuals or groups that aren’t Australian citizens. The categories are:

Nominations close on Friday 19 November 2021, and can be made by downloading a form via via the City of Onkaparinga website (where you’ll also find eligibility criteria) and returning it to council.

Nominations should provide specific examples of how the nominee’s contribution(s) have been significant, extraordinary or outstanding, including evidence of innovation, initiative and/or obstacles that have been overcome by the nominee, and the benefits to Onkaparinga communities.

Last year’s winners included Paul Crate, Citizen of the Year; Angus Miller, Young Citizen of the Year; and the Jessica Jones Wildlife Event for Community Event of the Year.
