Onkaparinga Presence

It’s time for fans of local photography to focus their attention on the Onkaparinga Presence Photography Exhibition.

The exhibition at the Onkaparinga Arts Centre includes around 30 photographs, contributed by twelve creative community members using a ‘mindful photography’ lens to capture images of the natural landscape from various locations around the City of Onkaparinga.

The group exhibition is the culmination of a joint project between Happy Snappers Adelaide and Artworks Inc. Community Arts Studio in Hackham, with funding through a City of Onkaparinga Community Grant.

The project enabled participants who would not normally have access to photographic equipment and expertise to come together in a creative, community setting.

They experienced regular photography outings to deeply observe our unique and beautiful natural environment and enter a state of mindfulness.

Aiming to improve wellbeing and build resilience in times of uncertainty and change, the project enabled participants to develop a stronger individual connection with our beautiful local landscape through their captured images.

Alex Mausolf, founder of Happy Snappers Adelaide, provided valuable technical support and camera equipment.

Six editing sessions were held at the Artwork studio and mentoring was provided to participants in editing and preparing their photos for display in the exhibition.

Originally programmed for 2020, due to COVID-19 the project and exhibition was rescheduled for 2021 and will be on display until Monday 12 April.
