The festive season is fast approaching, which means the City of Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant is just around the corner.
The annual event will return to the streets of Christies Beach on Sunday 24 November, followed by Christmas in the Park in Rotary Park on the corner of the Esplanade and Beach Road.
Set yourself up along Beach Road before 10am to watch the procession of marching bands, dance groups, sporting clubs, community groups and businesses before Santa makes his appearance.
Santa will wave to the crowd as he travels towards Rotary Park where the excitement will continue with Christmas in the Park until 1pm. Kids can have a photo with Santa, write him a letter and post it in Santa’s letterbox.
There’ll be plenty of food trucks and eateries, live entertainment, kids activities, and a range of stallholders where you can start your Christmas shopping.
There’ll even be a new activity this year, with kids encouraged to make reindeer food!
Head to the pageant webpage for more information, including entertainers, activities, food trucks and eateries, tips for a great pageant day, accessible viewing spots and temporary traffic restrictions.
The gift of giving
The pageant isn’t the only way to get into the Christmas spirit. If you’d like to give a gift to those in need, you can donate to the Onkaparinga Christmas Tree between 11 November to 6 December.
Get involved by donating an unwrapped gift for 0–18-year-olds and placing them under the tree at Aldinga Library, Aberfoyle Hub Library, Noarlunga Council Office or Woodcroft Community Centre.
This annual appeal makes Christmas extra special for children living in our city, and donated gifts are distributed by Southern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service, Anglicare Outer Southern Hub, Christian Care and Support Centre Aldinga Beach, and Salvation Army Morphett Vale.
More Christmas cheer
There are always plenty of other Christmas events happening across Onkaparinga in the lead-up to the big day.
To keep up to date with what’s on – including workshops and events at the council’s libraries and community centres – keep checking back at the council’s Christmas webpage.
And don’t forget to add your address to the City of Onkaparinga Christmas Light Display map if you’re planning on decorating your home this season.
