Southern Rumble comes to Adelaide

The Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative (ASCI) Pro/Am skateboard tour is officially heading down south to the City of Onkaparinga.

This week council agreed to host the third location of the ASCI Pro/Am skate Rumble event, the Southern Rumble, over the next two years.

This year’s event will take place from 24 to 27 November at the Niipu-niipu Wama/Morton Park skate facility, also known as the Christie Downs skate park.

Southern Rumble will host Street and Bowl titles with additional attractions to be announced, bringing alive the culture of the region.

Acting Mayor Marion Themeliotis was delighted that Onkaparinga would have the opportunity to showcase its latest gem-in-the-crown skateboard facility.

“There is an amazing skateboarding scene and culture in Onkaparinga, and our region is home to great skaters like Beau Hinge, Blayze Harmer and Izaac Finnen.

“While the Niipu-niipu Wama/Morton Park skate facility was developed for the community for riders of all skill levels, it’s fantastic that the park is also good enough to meet the needs of a Pro/Am event.

“We’re very proud that our new skate park in Christie Downs will host an event of this calibre,” Acting Mayor Themeliotis said.

The Southern Rumble is another milestone in ASCI’s strategy to develop a Pro/Am skate tour in Australia. Their aim is to roll out a new Rumble event each year until a permanent six stop series is secured by 2025.

The event schedule for the Southern Rumble will be released closer to the event.
