If you’re aged 16 to 25 and keen on a career in event management, apply now for a joint City of Onkaparinga and TAFESA event management course.

The course offers learning modules and hands-on experience in managing both small and large-scale events.

Students who complete the course can gain accreditation for six units towards a Certificate III in Events, covering topics including:

  • responsible service of alcohol
  • safe work practices
  • event staging support
  • service to customers
  • visitor information
  • hazard and risk identification and assessment.

Students will also complete their First Aid Certificate and Child Safe Environments training.

“This course is perfect for those who want to broaden their skills and knowledge in this area,” says Jolyn Phillipps, Youth Community Development Officer at the City of Onkaparinga.

“Students will design, deliver and evaluate youth events within the City of Onkaparinga as well as undertaking placements at other exciting events within Adelaide.

“Event management can be a daunting and high-adrenaline career. This course is a wonderful opportunity to take the leap into music festivals, awards nights, and community and corporate events.

“Previous students have participated in Groovin the Moo, Regen Series events, visitor centres and other events around Adelaide.”

The course will run from July to December, during the day on Mondays and Tuesdays and from 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesdays.

Training will be at Noarlunga TAFE and the Base 10 Youth Centre in Reynella. Some training is online and students will attend events at various locations.

Applications are open from 20 May to 14 June 2023.
