Nominations open for positive ageing awards

Published on 10 July 2026

Know someone who contributes to positive ageing in our region?  Nominate them for this year’s Every Generation Onkaparinga Awards.

The awards recognise everyday people and groups who contribute to ageing well in the City of Onkaparinga.

The council is seeking nominations for people who:

  • make a difference as dedicated volunteers in the community
  • act as role models, inspiring connections across every generation
  • show excellence as high achievers in arts, sport, education or culture
  • lead intergenerational initiatives that bring people together.

Nominations are open now and close Friday 24 July.

There are 3 award categories: individual, group and intergenerational.

The individual category recognises individuals aged 50 years and over who have contributed to the community as volunteers.

The group award is for organisations and groups, with most members aged 50 years or over, who have helped the Onkaparinga community to age well.

The intergenerational category recognises groups and individuals of any age who bring the generations together and promote understanding and respect between the generations.

Nominees will join a list of great candidates from the 2025 awards, including award winners Peter Symons in the individual category, Willunga Basin Trail Inc in the group category, and Grandbuddies in the intergenerational category – as well as lifetime awardees Laurel Jared and Eileen MacGreavy.

For further information, go to the Every Generation Onkaparinga Awards website or contact Every Generation Awards Coordinator Paquita Spurr on (08) 8384 0666 or at paquita.spurr@onkaparinga.sa.gov.au.

The winners will be announced at a special celebration event on 21 October.

Nominations close at 5pm, Friday 24 July 2026.
