Have your say on proposed developments

Onkaparinga residents are encouraged to have their say on two proposed housing developments, which could see part of Hackham renamed, and land in Woodcroft rezoned.

The community engagements—both led by the building and development companies rather than City of Onkaparinga—are being shared on council’s Your Say page now to ensure the community is informed.

In Woodcroft, Creation Homes is proposing to rezone two areas of land totalling approximately seven hectares within the Thaxted Park Golf Course to allow for residential development. The remaining land (approximately 38 hectares) would continue to operate as a golf course.

The proposed rezoning (known as a Code Amendment) is being led by the private proponent rather than council, and you can read more information and provide feedback before 5pm on Monday 29 August.

Council will consider its own position on the proposal this month before submitting feedback to Creation Homes, with a link to this submission be provided on the Your Say page.

In Hackham, YAS Property and Development is proposing to rename a portion of the suburb where an urban development project is being considered.

Approximately 2000 new homes are planned at Hackham, subject to approval from the Minister for Planning of the Hackham Code Amendment (for which council recently shared a separate engagement).

YAS Property and Development, the developer for a large part of this land, would like to rename part of the suburb, so it’s now undertaking preliminary engagement with the community to understand the level of support for the renaming and the proposed names.

The company wants to incorporate the name Onkaparinga because they consider it to be a geographical reference that provides a clear sense of place and identity, and it has proposed ‘Onkaparinga Views’, ‘Onkaparinga Heights’ and ‘Onkaparinga Ocean Views’ as possible names.

You can have your say on these names (or suggest your own) until Friday 26 August.
