You’re invited to a free, family-friendly event in Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre on Wednesday 12 November (11am to 1pm) to celebrate Reconciliation.
The annual family friendly Reconciliation in the South event will feature a free sausage sizzle; live music and performances; art, craft and cultural activities; First Nations businesses and stalls; and more. All welcome – bring your family, friends and community spirit!
This event is about bringing the whole community together to better understand reconciliation and explore meaningful ways to move forward collectively in the City of Onkaparinga, while encouraging all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements; and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia.
Guided by the cultural principles of respect and contribution, this approach strengthens community relationships and benefits the nation as a whole.
The City of Onkaparinga does this by working with Elders, community and key stakeholders; Neporendi Aboriginal Forum Incorporated and Neporendi Aboriginal Community Centre staff and volunteers; and with the support of Joining Hands and Minds – a network of local agencies that provide services to the First Nations community.
The council also continues to support reconciliation through the delivery of its Reconciliation Action Plan and a range of actions across four key areas – relationships, respect, opportunities and governance.
The Reconciliation in the South event was rescheduled after the National Reconciliation Week-aligned event faced bad weather conditions in May.
