Have your say on elector representation

Published on 03 October 2024

The City of Onkaparinga wants your feedback on a Representation Review to ensure the Council's structure and composition remains fair, equitable and responsive to the evolving needs of communities.

The City of Onkaparinga is currently divided into six wards, each represented by two councillors plus the mayor, elected from the whole council area.

Every eight years, councils across South Australia are required by the Local Government Act 1999 to conduct an Elector Representation Review.

This review ensures fair and equitable representation for all voters, and considers whether changes to the composition or ward structure of the Council would benefit the community.

Public submissions are a vital part of the review, and you’re invited to have your say.

The proposed changes

The council is seeking your feedback on its draft proposal to:

  • Keep the number of wards and elected members the same
  • Realign ward boundaries to ensure a fair representation in each ward.

How to find out more

You can view the draft Representation Review Report online via Your Say Onkaparinga or collect a hard copy from the council's offices.

You must submit your feedback online, via email, or by post by Thursday 24 October.
