Willunga Farmers Market mural unveiled

A new mural has been completed in Willunga Town Square, powered by artist Eileen Lubiana, the Willunga Farmers Market, and more than 200 volunteer hours.

The large and colourful mural covers the public toilets on Kell Street, alongside the usual home of the Willunga Farmers Market (which has temporarily moved to Willunga High School due to COVID-19).

The work celebrates the local produce of the region, the vibrancy and colour and community spirit of the market, and the surrounding landscape, which attracts over 150,000 visitors each year.

Artist Eileen Lubiana was contracted to work on the project in March 2021 following Willunga Farmers Market's successful application for a City of Onkaparinga Public Place Improvement Grant, and the mural was completed with the efforts of volunteers from the community, who contributed over 200 hours of work.

City of Onkaparinga Mayor Erin Thompson paid tribute to the volunteers, Eileen and Willunga Farmers Market at a thank-you event in late September, where she said the result is "one of the most beautiful murals in the city".

"It reflects so much of what this region provides to visitors and residents alike; amazing local produce, creativity in all its forms and all of it generated by the people who live here," she said.
