Kick off the school holidays with FootGolf

If you’re on the lookout for something different to do these school holidays that will coax the kids out of the house, then the Willunga Golf Course has an activity they’ll get a kick out of – literally!

Willunga Golf Course is offering FootGolf, a sport that combines soccer and golf where players are required to kick a ball into a dedicated FootGolf hole in as few shots as possible.

Moving around the golf course, players need to avoid all the usual course challenges including sand bunkers, roughs, green gradients, trees and water hazards.

The specially designed FootGolf course is one of only two in South Australia and was introduced at the City of Onkaparinga-owned course in 2018.

The course has six holes across picturesque fairways and beautifully manicured greens.

Mayor Erin Thompson said the school holidays are a great opportunity to experience all the different things to do and see in the City of Onkaparinga.

“We’re really excited to host another FootGolf-filled school holiday program, offering the public — young and old — the chance to spend the afternoon having fun and being active with friends and family.

“No experience in soccer or golf is needed, and having a kick around our beautiful course can be quite addictive — just make sure to look out for those sand bunkers!”

FootGolf at Willunga Golf Course — located at St Peters Tce — is available to the public from 7–21 July during the school holidays (excluding Saturdays) from 2.30pm to 5pm. The cost is $5 per player. Soccer boots with studs are not permitted on the course.

FootGolf is just one of many activities held during the July school holidays that will keep the kids entertained and (hopefully) ease the “I’m bored” commentary.

Here’s just a snippet of what you can fill your days with — there’s something for kids of all ages and interests. And what’s even better, a lot are for free!
