Onkaparinga Libraries’ free Author Talks introduce some of Australia’s best-selling authors to local readers and budding authors, allowing for stories, questions and afternoon teas in an intimate setting.
Libraries and Community Centres Manager Stuart Purves says the Author Talks offer rare insights into the writing habits of some of Australia’s favourite authors, and the inspiration behind their bestsellers.
“We’re really pleased to bring these celebrated authors to our libraries for residents to learn, be inspired and meet likeminded members of the community,” Stuart says.
The first Author Talk saw internationally-published Queensland writer, Josephine Moon, visit Noarlunga Library on 8 May, with three to follow in May and June.
All Author Talks are free, but participants must register via City of Onkaparinga’s event pages.
Let’s get to know the three authors coming soon to our libraries.
Nicole Alexander
When: Friday 17 May, 11am to noon

Nicole Alexander is a bestselling rural fiction writer from New South Wales, who’s published nine novels.
Her works reflect her love for the Australian landscape, and her latest novel, Stone Country, is a sweeping rural historical novel set in the red dirt of mid-north SA and the cattle stations and buffalo plains of the Northern Territory. It follows the tale of a man torn between duty and desire, love and determination.
Nicole’s talk is suitable for adults and refreshments are provided.

Fiona McIntosh
When: Thursday 23 May, 6.30-8.30pm

South Australia’s own Fiona McIntosh is a prolific international bestselling author of novels for adults and children and her latest books include The Pearl Thief and The Chocolate Tin.
Come along to hear Fiona’s research and travel tales, with books available for purchase and light refreshments provided. It’s suitable for adults and youth aged 16+..

Nadine Williams OAM
When: Sunday 23 June, 2.30 to 3.30pm
Where: Hub Library – register now
South Australian bestselling author Nadine Williams OAM’s latest book, Farewell My French Love, is a funny, poignant and profoundly moving memoir about love, grief, travel and renewal in France.
Nadine, a former Advertiser journalist, was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2016 for her service to SA’s print media.
Nadine will illustrate her author talk with slides from her journey in France. Books will be available for sale and a French-inspired afternoon tea will be provided.
