There’ll be oodles of fair dinkum free and affordable family fun to be had at the City of Onkaparinga’s Australia Day events on Saturday 26 January.
In the morning, head out to one of the free Australia Day breakfasts, from 8am until 11am at four locations across the city: Symonds Reserve, Butterworth Road, Aldinga Beach; Bob Such Reserve, Jessica Street, Aberfoyle Park; Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre; and the Old Courthouse, 61 High Street, Willunga. Bring along a picnic rug or a chair and enjoy connecting with your community over a free breakfast, live entertainment and children’s activities.
Later, get down to the annual Australia Day Bush Fair and fireworks at South Adelaide Football Club (1 Lovelock Drive, Noarlunga Downs) from 5.30-9.30pm with gates opening at 5.15pm.
We’re very excited to announce that South Aussie with Cosi will be returning this year to emcee our Aussie Day event. Families will enjoy live entertainment, including Mr Oopy’s children’s show and the Amazing Drumming Monkeys, roving performers and an array of free activities and demonstrations for children and adults alike. From tots and toddlers to tweens and teens, there’ll be plenty to keep them busy.
There’ll be market stalls to peruse and local food vendors — including some new faces — will provide a variety of food and drink options for the hungry hordes. This is an alcohol-free event, however, the clubrooms will operate as usual. Entry to the event is a gold coin.
The event also celebrates some of the community’s top citizens and events with the presentation of the 2019 Australia Day Awards.
The council’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (aged 30 or under), Little Hero of the Year (aged 12 or under) and Sportsperson of the Year will be revealed, as well as the Community Event of the Year, for the most outstanding community event held during 2018.
A sensational firework display will cap off the evening — weather permitting.
Bring along your deck chairs and picnic rugs but please leave your pets at home.
