Ready, set, read!
Stack your to-be-read pile with titles recommended just for you using Bibliophiles.
Whether you’re a prolific reader or you haven’t picked up a book in a while, the council’s librarians are excited to help you find your next page-turner using the personalised online advisory service Bibliophiles.
Visit onkaparingacity.com and search for Bibliophiles. There, you’ll find a readers’ advisory form that seeks your input about what you have and have not enjoyed reading in the past. Using your responses, the well-read library team will suggest three book titles they think you will love. Plus, you’ll receive a wildcard suggestion to inspire you to add a new genre or author to your reading repertoire.
The Bibliophiles service was successfully trialled last year. Now, Bibliophiles is being offered on an ongoing basis.
“We have many library visitors who say they love an author and have read everything he or she has written, but feel unsure about what to dive into next,” says Collection Management Coordinator Kerrie Kemp.
Numerous people who used the Bibliophiles service last year said they were motivated to read titles and authors they hadn’t thought of on their own, and found them interesting. The librarians will endeavour to promote lesser-known writers to open new options for readers.
Woodcroft Library Team Leader Kathrin Davidson says the three suggested titles will probably closely match what the reader has reported enjoying before. The wildcard will be a more unusual choice.
“For example, we might suggest a non-fiction option if the reader says that he or she usually likes fiction. Or, a young adult title if the reader has only explored books written for an older audience in recent times,” Kathrin says.
Remember, library staff are available in-house to chat and offer new ideas about great titles and authors to read.
City of Onkaparinga libraries are located at Aldinga, Aberfoyle Park (the Hub), Noarlunga, Seaford, Willunga and Woodcroft. Membership is free and available to all Onkaparinga residents.
