Enjoy a Christmas event or workshop
City of Onkaparinga’s 2020 Christmas Pageant was unable to go ahead due to COVID restrictions, but thankfully a series of Christmas activations at community centres and libraries across the city is being held instead.
Some of the (mostly free) upcoming events at Onkaparinga Libraries include festive decoration and Christmas craft sessions, a Christmas coding session, a virtual Christmas pageant, Christmas escape room, Christmas storytime and a family Christmas movie morning. Numbers are limited so residents are encouraged to book fast.
Over at the Aberfoyle Community Centre, there are still a few tickets left for the annual School Holidays Gingerbread House and Biscuit Decorating Workshop ($20 per family, per gingerbread house) on Thursday 17 December.
Meanwhile, there are two fun Christmas workshops on offer for 8-14 year olds at Base 10 Youth Centre at Reynella—a Christmas crafts session on Wednesday 16 December ($5), and a Christmas Cooking session on Sunday 20 December ($15).
Give a gift to those in need
If you want to make Christmas special for children living in our city, you can donate to the Onkaparinga Christmas Tree.
Unwrapped gifts for 0-18-year-olds can be donated until Tuesday 10 December at the Noarlunga Council office, Aldinga and Hub Libraries, or Woodcroft Community Centre.
Gifts will be distributed to children with the assistance of Southern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service, Anglicare Outer Southern Hub, Christian Care and Support Centre Aldinga Beach and Salvation Army Morphett Vale.
Experience the city’s best Christmas light displays
Entries have now closed in the Mayor’s Christmas Light Display Competition, but you can still experience the magic of all the entrants and non-entrants by following the Christmas lights display map on our website.
There are currently light displays you can check out in Seaford, Seaford Meadows, Seaford Rise, Huntfield Heights, Hackham West, Morphett Vale, Christie Downs, Woodcroft, Willunga, Reynella, Happy Valley, Aberfoyle Park and Flagstaff Hill.

Meet Santa
Despite the pageant not going ahead this year, Santa has still managed to drop by a few of our libraries and community centres already.
If you missed those appearances, never fear—you can still meet the big man at a few spots in the City of Onkaparinga.
You can have your photos taken with Santa at Colonnades daily until Christmas Eve.
The team at McLaren Vale Business & Tourism Association have come up with a creative way to meet Santa (well, a cut-out version, at least) with their ‘Selfie Santa’ at the Piazza della Valle on Main Road.
Snap a selfie with Santa at the Piazza and share with the hashtag #mainroadmclarenvale for your chance to win $200 Main Road McLaren Vale bucks.
