Get involved in Council

Elections for 67 of South Australia’s 68 councils have begun.

Council elections across the state are underway and now is your opportunity to take an active role in shaping the future of the City of Onkaparinga.

Taking part in local government elections—by nominating and voting—is one of the ways you can make a difference to everyday life in your community.

The City of Onkaparinga is divided into six wards, with two elected members representing each ward, plus a mayor.

Nominations to stand for Council open on 23 August and close at noon on 6 September.

Information on eligibility for nominating for Council is available on the Electoral Commission SA website - ecsa.sa.gov.au

There will also be an information session for potential candidates wanting to learn more about the role and responsibilities of becoming an elected member on Thursday 18 August, 6.30pm in the Ray Gilbert Room at the City of Onkaparinga Noarlunga office.

Following the nomination period, all details on candidates will be published at ecsa.sa.gov.au

Enrolled voters will then head to the polls in November to vote, with all election materials sent via post.
