Digital device skills for the beginner

Does the idea of downloading an app make you or someone you know scratch your head with frustration?

Seaford Library is running a series of training sessions on digital devices where you can start learning the basics on how to use a computer, tablet or smartphone and find out how you can access the internet.

As part of a network of community groups helping older Australians to thrive in a digital world, the library offers course material that is set up for participants to learn the absolute basics on how to use your device in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

More than 3 million Australians are still digitally excluded, either by availability of access to devices or lack of technical ability. Seaford Library wants to bridge this gap by delivering training and internet access to residents of the City of Onkaparinga.

Onkaparinga Team Leader Albert Bergoc encourages Seaford residents who want to take the leap into the digital world to take part in the sessions.

“The library is the ideal place for beginners to learn basic digital device skills at a pace that is comfortable for them,” he said.

There are three training sessions:

  • Tablets (hand held computers) – 3 March, 3pm to 5pm
  • Mobile smartphones – 17 March, 3pm to 5pm
  • All about apps – 24 March, 3pm to 5pm

Pick one or do them all!

The courses are free and suitable for adults.  Refreshments will be provided and bookings are essential.
