The Fleurieu Food Festival – a month-long celebration of food, wine and place – is on from 1–31 August, and McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast is packed with dining experiences, tastings workshops and farm events.
The region-wide program is designed to showcase the best of the Fleurieu Peninsula, with more than 120 events across the region and featuring more than 60 venues and producers.
The Fleurieu Peninsula – including McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast, Victor Harbor, Yankalilla, Strathalbyn and the Adelaide Hills fringe – is one of the state’s most diverse food and wine regions spanning coastal towns, rolling farmland, vineyards, orchards and small regional communities.
It’s also home to a rich network of producers, growers, winemakers, distillers and hospitality venues, with the festival bringing them together to create a unified campaign that showcases the region’s best.
Festivalgoers can expect:
- long lunches and seasonal dining experiences
- wine tastings, cellar door events and distillery experiences
- farm tours and paddock-to-plate experiences
- hands-on workshops and masterclasses
- markets, pop-ups and relaxed community events.
In McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast, standalone events include [pausing to take a huge breath]: OysterPalooza – an annual oyster festival; an award-winning wedding night (only without the ceremony), a celebration of spice, salsa and great beer; a drawing workshop (with dumplings and more); paella with Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian wine varietal tastings; a food, fashion and wine show; brunch and bubbles; a linocut printmaking workshop; a sumptuous 5-course feast; a 6-course dessert degustation; a long-lunch with mystery guests and surprises; a winter long-table feast including a whole lamb; a curated 4-course dinner celebrating aged wines; a sustainable jewellery workshop (with local produce and cider/wine); an egg farm tour and afternoon tea; a botanical brunch bar and tour; a 4-course feast by fire with entertainment; a rugged winter-inspired seafood lunch; a hands-on morning with medallists at the Willunga Farmers Market; a celebration of Harry’s Deli’s 10 years; and a native pasta masterclass with lunch and wine.
