Halls for hire

Four City of Onkaparinga community halls can now be booked using an Airbnb-like platform that rose to prominence on national entrepreneur TV show, Shark Tank Australia.

Byards Community Hall (Happy Valley), Karawatha Hall (O’Sullivan Beach), Morphett Vale Hall and Sellicks Beach Community Hall are now live on SpacetoCo, a website that allows anyone to share and book community spaces by the hour.

City of Onkaparinga has signed an agreement with the company to participate in a 12-month trial with the four halls, with a view to transitioning more council-owned and managed facilities to the platform if successful.

The customer-focused system streamlines the booking process, making it much easier and quicker to book a space and complete payment in one hit from the comfort of your home on any device.

You can also see real-time availability, pricing and features of the facilities; book at a time that suits you (rather than just council opening hours); take a virtual tour of the facilities; and complete an online site induction.

The four halls – which are popular for fitness and wellness activities, playgroups, birthdays, weddings and special celebrations – can be booked now at City of Onkaparinga’s page on the SpacetoCo website.

All sites are subject to strict cleaning regimes and have their own COVID cleaning stations, while staff are available to help prepare COVID plans.

SpacetoCo was founded in 2017 and rocketed to national attention when it appeared on TV show Shark Tank Australia, receiving funding from one of the judges.

City of Onkaparinga is one of the first SA councils to begin using the platform.
