Hub Gymnastics Club takes out prestigious awards

The 2019 Gymnastics SA Annual Awards saw local club Hub Gymnastics take out a number of prestigious awards.

Held on Saturday 8 February, the awards night recognised and rewarded the outstanding contributions of affiliated clubs, judges, coaches and volunteers in the gymnastics community throughout 2019.

The Hub Gymnastics Club won awards in the following categories:

  • Positive Coach of the Year for 2019 – Emma Murray
  • Aerobic Coach of the Year for 2019 – Cassie Netz
  • Medium Size Club of the Year for 2019
  • Overall Club of the Year for 2019.

These awards are a fitting recognition of the achievements made during the first 12 months of the club’s return to the Onkaparinga region at the O’Halloran Hill Recreation Centre. They celebrate the hard work put into the club by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Since its return to O’Halloran Hill, the club has worked with council and other stakeholders to carry out upgrades to amenities within the centre and surrounding area.

City of Onkaparinga Councillor Marion Themeliotis was full of praise for the progress achieved by the club members through their positive working relationship with council.

“I have seen first-hand the work the club has done to totally transform the recreation centre, all in only 12 months, providing great benefits to the wider community,” she said.

Senior coach at Hub Gymnastics Club Paul Murray commended all those involved in the 2019 achievements.

“It just shows people what can be achieved with hard work and determination from a community club,” he said.

“Recognition from your peers in the gymnastics community and association, from growth in numbers to achievements on the competition floor, is fantastic. Bring on 2020.”

With a current waiting list of 250, the Hub Gymnastics Club will continue to increase classes and sessions frequency with a sustainable annual growth plan to meet the community demand for their services.
