Learning, doing and sharing at the Community Food Expo

The Woodcroft-Morphett Vale Neighbourhood Centre will host a free Community Food Expo on Thursday 22 April where you can get involved with growing, cooking and sharing food activities.

You can learn how to grow your own food at home with seedling giveaways, watch cooking demonstrations on healthy ways to feed your family with free tastings and discover the art of preserving food to make the most of your home-grown produce.

Kids can take part in an interactive and engaging look at the magic of composting and everyone is invited to visit the Community Garden/Food Forest.

You can check out the range of stands at the expo including farmers market produce, gardening displays and a grow free and share table.

This is the final event in a series of three Community Food Expos held in the northern suburbs of the City of Onkaparinga. The project has been funded by the state government’s Wellbeing SA, Open Your World Strategy, and is aimed at building community resilience against the social impacts of COVID-19.

The project has been led by the Onkaparinga Food Security Collaborative working with six other partner organisations to connect with, engage and inspire northern Onkaparinga residents through the process of growing and cooking their own food.

Entry to the Expo is free and all are welcome—register at Eventbrite. Come along and find out about the nutritional, social and mental health benefits of home growing, cooking and sharing produce with others in your neighbourhood.
