Adopt a new feline friend with RSPCA

There has never been a better time to adopt a cat in Onkaparinga, with RSPCA SA launching an adoption blitz to deal with the "catpacity".

As of yesterday, there were 890 cats and kittens in care and 60 per cent of these in RSPCA shelters, with the vast majority of these at Lonsdale.

The RSPCA has a new pop-up adoption shop at The Hub Shopping Centre, Aberfoyle Park, which is open daily until 3pm this Sunday 19 June, where there are up to 15 cats at any one time all waiting patiently to find their forever homes.

Head to the Facebook event page for more information and opening hours.

Cat and kitten adoption is also available from the RSPCA's Lonsdale shelter, and at participating Petbarn stores (RSPCA's adoption partner), including two stores in Onkaparinga (Noarlunga and Seaford).

All cats (one year and older) are $39 and are microchipped, desexed and vaccinated, while kittens are $249.

RSPCA SA's Animal Care Manager Stuart Timmins said the blitz was about removing all obstacles possible for people who might be looking to adopt, including distance.

“Cats are intelligent creatures and great fun to have around, and the saying that a cat makes a house a home is definitely true," he said.

"We’re well into winter now, and there’s nothing like a purring cat on your lap to keep you warm.”
