Christmas in Onkaparinga

The festive season is fast-approaching and there are heaps of ways you can get involved in the lead-up to 25 December.

Check out the list below and start getting into the Christmas spirit!

Meet Santa at the Twilight Christmas Fair

The City of Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant won’t go ahead in 2021 due to COVID-19, but thankfully the man in red will still be making an appearance at the Twilight Christmas Fair at Bice Oval, Christies Beach!

The free afternoon of family fun and entertainment kicks off from 3–7pm on Sunday 5 December, with Christmas-themed entertainment, children’s activities, music and a visit from Santa.

There will be a variety of market stalls to purchase Christmas gifts and an array of delicious food and drinks. Details of market stalls and food vendors to come.

Note: this is a cashless event, with no pets, smoking, vaping or alcohol permitted. COVID restrictions will apply, with speed restrictions around Bice Oval and limited parking available within the oval.

Give a gift to someone in need at the Onkaparinga Christmas Tree

You can give a gift to those in need by donating to the Onkaparinga Christmas Tree between 15 November and 9 December.

Get involved by donating a gift for 0-to-18-year-olds and placing them under the trees at Aldinga or Aberfoyle Hub Library, the City of Onkaparinga Noarlunga Office or Woodcroft Community Centre.

This annual appeal makes Christmas extra special for children living in our city, and donated gifts are distributed by Southern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service, Anglicare Outer Southern Hub, Christian Care and Support Centre Aldinga Beach, and Salvation Army Morphett Vale.

Enter the Mayor’s Christmas Light Display Competition or experience the city’s best displays

Entries are now open in the Mayor’s Christmas Light Display Competition, which recognises the communities that go to extraordinary lengths in their light displays.

Entries are open in the following categories—Best single house, and Best street display—and close on Friday 26 November. Grab an entry form from Onkaparinga’s libraries, council offices or online.

Judging will take place from 1–14 December. You can also add your house to our online map, which helps the community check out the best of the best displays across the city.
