Get set for pro golf in Willunga

South Australia’s first professional mixed golf tournament is headed to Willunga Golf Course from 19–22 October and you can experience all the action—on and off the course.

The Webex Players Series South Australia is the first event of an innovative series of tournaments now held across three states. The ground-breaking format sees professional men and women golfers, and elite amateurs playing on the same course, for the same prize.

Hosted by former Australian cricketer, SA’s own Greg Blewett, the $200,000 tournament will be the first time both the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia and the WPGA Tour of Australasia have played in the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast region.

Across the tournament weekend, 16 junior and nine All Abilities golfers will also tee off alongside the professionals in their own 36-hole competitions. The event is supported by the South Australian Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission.

How can I catch the golfing action?

Entry to the course on St Peters Terrace, Willunga is free throughout the tournament, so you can catch all the action live—whether you’re a diehard golf fan or simply want to experience the buzz of pro sports right on your doorstep.

Hours of play will be approximately 7:30am to 6:30pm on Thursday and Friday, and approximately 8:30am to 5:50pm on Saturday and Sunday (weekend times subject to change).

For those who can’t make it to Willunga, the tournament will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo from 3–6pm on Saturday 21 October and from 1–6pm on Sunday 22 October.

What is happening off the course?

The golf course isn’t the only place where the action’s happening! Head down to the CBCo Village Green (alongside the clubhouse) to enjoy live entertainment, food trucks and a pop-up bar from 2–7pm on Friday 20 October, and from 12–7pm on Saturday and Sunday 21–22 October.

If you’re looking to make a day of it, why not combine your visit with a trip into the Willunga township to experience art, dine, drink, shop and support local?

Who can I see in action in the tournament?

Some of the headline players in the stacked field include:

  • Willunga-born, Lachlan Barker, who won the 2023 PNG Open and currently sits second on the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit
  • Jack Thompson, another South Australian and a former PGA Tour of Australasia winner
  • Grace Lennon, winner of the 2023 The Athena tournament; and another SA local Millie Whinney—one of the elite amateurs competing in the field.

The draw isn’t made until the Tuesday of tournament week.
