Get excited for a trucktacular day! The City of Onkaparinga’s annual Trucks on Tour event returns to Morphett Vale’s Wilfred Taylor Reserve on Friday 10 October.
Trucks on Tour is a free community event (10am to 2pm) designed for children of all ages and their families, offering little ones the chance to climb into the driver's seat of their favourite vehicles, explore their inner workings and watch them in action.
More than 40 vehicles are expected this year – from emergency vehicles and construction giants to a show-stopping 100-year-old truck! Bring the kids, climb aboard, take photos, and learn all about these mighty machines.
Council vehicles aside, SAPOL, Emergency Services and SA Power Networks will be on hand to engage with attendees and showcase the various vehicles essential for maintaining community safety and wellbeing.
With horns honking, lights flashing, and exciting demonstrations happening throughout the day, this event is sure to capture the imagination of children and adults alike.
Plus, it’s not just about the trucks – there’s plenty of fun for everyone, including go karts, a ninja course, face painting, live music, roving entertainment and Kaurna creek and cultural walks.
More than a dozen food trucks and a BBQ will be on hand for you to fuel up, but you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks if you prefer.
Trucks on Tour merchandise such as hard hats, high-vis vests and mini bins will also be available for purchase on the day.
For those that need some down time, a sensory hour runs from 1–2pm, allowing families seeking a quieter experience to attend as horns and loud devices are silenced and demonstrations end. Spectrum Connect Inc. will host a sensory refuge along with a quiet activity zone for the event’s duration.
The event also welcomes back MadieFidgets with their 3D-printed Articulated Fidgets. Fidgets aide in regulation, concentration and anxiety and encourage pretend, creative and imaginative play.
Head to the council’s website for more details including activities and entertainment, food truck information and the program of vehicle demonstrations to ensure you don’t miss out on seeing your favourite in action.
There’ll be a 25km/h speed limit in place on Wheatsheaf Road alongside Wilfred Taylor Reserve during the event to ensure the safety of attendees.
Trucks on Tour is proudly sponsored by Fast Lane Traffic, the Official Transport Partner, and supported by SA Power Networks, Lucas Total Contract Solutions, Metropolitan Fire Service, Country Fire Service, South Australian State Emergency Service, South Australian Police, South Australian Ambulance Service and the Australian Defence Force.
