Have your say on Hackham renaming

The state government is asking for feedback on a proposal to change the name of Hackham’s southern portion to ‘Onkaparinga Heights’.

The proposal would realign part of Hackham’s boundary with Hepenstal Road (view maps of the current and proposed boundary).

The area subject to the proposal is currently under consideration for rezoning as part of the Hackham Code Amendment by the chief executive of the Attorney-General’s Department, which would facilitate a residential development of about 2000 homes.

The developer has provided a written submission to the surveyor-general requesting the name change to Onkaparinga Heights for the area being developed.

The surveyor-general has indicated that realigning the boundary and providing a new name provides a unique identity for a new and growing community, while maintaining logical and recognisable suburb boundaries with a clear distinction between existing development and a new master-planned development.

They say only a small number of existing residents within the proposed area would be affected and required to change their address to reference the new suburb name of Onkaparinga Heights.

You can find more information and have your say at the state government’s Your Say page until Thursday 19 January 2023.

At the end of the consultation period, the surveyor-general will consider all feedback and a recommendation will be made to the minister for planning.
