Head to your library these school holidays

We’re one week into the school holidays and there are still plenty of free activities on offer at City of Onkaparinga’s libraries.

Council has six libraries, which offer the community a wide range of services and activities, apart from just borrowing a good read.

Located at Willunga, Aldinga, Seaford, Noarlunga, Woodcroft and Aberfoyle Park, council libraries have regular programs to cater for all age groups and interests.

Free school holiday activities are a huge attraction for busy parents and council libraries are just the place to provide fun and funky experiences to get the younger generation thinking and creating.

Kids can attend the children’s movie afternoon, create a piece of artwork to be exhibited or get involved with some medieval madness and design and build their own Lego castle, as well as make a paper catapult and castle. There are also regular story-time sessions featuring new favourites and classic stories followed by a connected activity.

Seaford, Aberfoyle Park and Woodcroft libraries offer a toy library service with a wide range of fun and educational toys, games and puzzles for children to enjoy.

For the young sporty types, there is plenty of sports and recreational equipment available for loan from Aldinga, Seaford, Woodcroft and Aberfoyle Park libraries.

There are a host of adult programs on offer too. Film buffs can enjoy fortnightly movie sessions featuring late-release quality films, and for those crafty types there are regular mornings of craft and conversation.

Feeling a little fuzzy? Council libraries offer Train Your Brain programs which exercise your brain and memory in comfortable surroundings. There are online talks with popular authors and you can delve into your family history with the help of local history staff.

Add into the mix creative writing, card mornings and knitting groups and there are plenty of reasons to visit your local library and get your creative juices flowing or just relax with the latest best-seller.

City of Onkaparinga libraries also provide customers with access to a range of free digital resources.

You can use computers and access wireless hotspots at all six libraries. There are online safety resource courses to help increase your skills in the use of online technologies as well as printing, photocopying and scanning services. Need a Justice of the Peace? You can access one at all six library locations.

The City of Onkaparinga delivers more than 200 programs and services to the community each year.
